透過詢問聖誕老公公是怎麼鑽進煙囪的來引起讀者的興趣，而提出來的想法也讓人覺得幽默好笑！其中某幾頁有搓中嫩薑的笑點。

一翻開內頁看到聖誕老公公脫掉外套，引起嫩薑興趣。

👩：「Why does Santa take off his coat?」「If you take off your coat on a snowy day, you will feel ____?」

👦：「Cold.」

👩：「So why does Santa take off his coat?」

他勒緊褲帶嗎？

👩：「Santa tightens his belt to go down the chimney? Does it work?」

還是把自己縮小到老鼠的大小？

👩：「Santa shrinks himself means he makes himself smaller.」「Why he does this?」

👦：「He can go down the chimney!」

要是你家沒有煙囪呢？

👩：「What if there is no chimney on the rooftop?」

👦：「He can go to the door.」

👩：「That sounds a great idea. But Santa doesn't have a key.」

👦：「Crash the door.」

👩：「That would wake up everyone in the house.」

也跟嫩薑玩角色扮演，一起創造個小對話。

👩：「Let's role play. You want to be Santa or reindeer?」

👦：「Santa」

👩：「I'm reindeer.」「Oh, Santa where is the chimney?」

👦：「I can't find it.」

👩：「What can we do to get into the house?」

👦：「Go to the door.」

👩：「But we don't have the key.」

👦：「Someone leave the key under the flowerpot.」因為唸過一兩次，嫩薑記住了故事內有提到這個！

👩：「How can we get out of here?」

👦：「Jump down!」🤣

狗狗一定很喜歡聖誕老公公，否則他應該會吠叫。聖誕老公公可能也帶了餅乾給狗狗，也知道狗狗喜歡被搔癢那裡。

聖誕老公公在一片漆黑中看得到東西嗎？他會戴上夜視鏡(night-vision goggles)嗎？還是因為比較喜歡紅色而戴了熱感應護目鏡呢？

👦：「They are orange.」嫩薑指著在沙發上的貓。

👩：「The cat and the bird are shown in orange, or red when you wear heat vision goggles.」

聖誕老公公以相同下煙囪的方式爬上了煙囪，我不知道他是怎麼做到呢？

👩：「How does Santa go up the chimney? This is a very interesting question.」

👦：「Santa has a magic wand.」

👩：「Then?」

👦：「He say Abracadabra. There are stairs.」

👩：「Do you mean stairs inside the chimney?」

👦：「Yes. Santa climbs up the stairs.」

👩：「Oh, I see. That sounds a great way going up the chimney!」

這本書吸引人的地方除了是Mac Barnett & Jon Klassen聯手所創作外，它跟常見訴求溫馨、愛的聖誕繪本不同，是屬於幽默好笑類型的。 Youtube上面有人形容這本書quirky，這個字用的很貼切耶～

我喜歡繪本中提出想法挑戰讀者的思考；嫩薑現階段大部分只覺得好笑， 能討論的部分只有一兩個點，例如「如果家裡沒有煙囪呢？」那該怎麼辦呢？如果討論無法繼續延伸我也沒有給他什麼答案，等的每年長大一歲再拿出來共讀，期待每年不一樣的答案☺️。
